Word, Character & Reading Time Counter

Paste or type a draft to see word, character, sentence, and reading-time estimates. Text stays in your browser and is not sent to a SoloKit server.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste a draft into the text box.
  2. Review words, characters, sentences, and the estimated reading time.
  3. Edit locally and use the updated counts as a quick guide, not an editorial rule.

How the calculation works

Words are non-empty whitespace-separated tokens, sentences are estimated from common sentence-ending punctuation, and reading time uses an adjustable average of 200 words per minute.

A quick example

A 600-word draft at 200 words per minute has an estimated reading time of about 3 minutes.

Common questions

Are spaces included in the character count?

The tool shows both total characters and characters without whitespace, so you can choose the measure that fits your platform.

How is reading time estimated?

It divides the word count by an average 200 words per minute and rounds up. Actual reading speed varies.

Is my draft uploaded?

No. Counting is performed in your browser; the tool does not submit the text to a SoloKit application server.
